About
Right in the Middle was created to keep readers accurately informed about critical issues occurring in Middle East.
Ironically this site was created on April 6, 2008 – Nisan 1 on the Hebrew calendar. According to the book of Exodus, “God spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt” instructing them regarding the setting of the Jewish calendar and said that “this month shall be for you the head of months, the first of the months of the year.” Nisan (also called Abib or Aviv) marks the New Year on the Hebrew calendar because it was the beginning of Israel’s new life as a people.
“Right in the Middle” was created because today, as in the day of the beginning of Israel’s new life as a people (1313BCE), Israel finds herself again at the center stage of world events. Whether we recognize it or not, the events now occurring in the Middle East affect every one of us.
Long before Israel was called out of the bondage of Egypt, we see that there has been a persevering force that has always sought to annihilate this people group. Today, as in the days of Moses, there are many forces that seek to blot out the nation of Israel. Over and over again, in the pages of ancient and recent history, we see this drama being repeated.
What many of us fail to recognize is that the destiny of Israel is not just about the State of Israel. Today the State of Israel, born out of the ashes of death and destruction shines as a global beacon of hope and restoration for the entire world to see. The State of Israel surrounded by 22 Islamic nations, stands for freedom, life and democracy. The State of Israel, although distant from our shores, is intricately connected to every individual who values life, freedom and democracy. Israel finds herself on the front lines of a battle for democracy and freedom that affects every one of us.
In the course of talking to people about issues occurring in the Middle East, I have found that some people become disinterested because the issues seem “too complex” to them. I would argue that this is not an hour to be disinterested or uninformed about these issues. As Americans who are alive today, we must recognize that we are living in a defining hour of human history, and so the question that comes to each one of us is “what will we do?” We are among the few that have been blessed with the privilege of living in a nation where we can freely educate ourselves and speak to issues that matter. I would argue that “to whom much is given, much is required” therefore our privilege also becomes our responsibility.
This desire to see people informed about issues occurring in the world (particularly in the Middle East) prompted me start this blog that discusses current and critical issues occurring in the Middle East in a way that readers (at any level of understanding) can receive basic information. Many issues when discussed on a superficial level can be misguiding, confusing or contradictory. My intention in creating this blog, is to provide basic factual information with an explanation of why these issues are important.
In stating facts and quotes I provide the references so the reader can explore the issues further if desired. I also provide my perspective and opinion based on the information.
If you like what you read, please pass this site on to other and please leave your questions and comments and I will respond. If you would like to be alerted when new posts are made, let me know and I will send you an alert.
Again, I welcome your comments and all opinions. If you have a different perspective that you would like to offer, let me know- I will post the comments and various perspectives. Eventually, I hope to have many different writers and contributors to this blog. If you have an expertise in this area and would like to contribute to “Right in the Middle” please let me know.
Ahh, yes see why Israel is the apple of Gods Eye.
